In support of ongoing mine reclamation activities at the Red Devil Mine on the Kuskokwim River, the Bureau of Land Management contracted with design-build specialist, Marsh Creek, LLC, on a bridge and access road to this historic mercury mine.
Built for the barge
AIL Mining is a world leader in developing innovative engineered bridging solutions. Due to the remote location, Marsh Creek chose our Prefabricated Bridge and foundation systems. The modular components of the bridge were designed to accommodate locally available lifting equipment and barge transportation. The bridge was specifically designed for the weight of a Volvo A30D Articulated Hauler.
Bolt-A-Bin Abutments: Economical, strong and versatile
The abutments were constructed using Bolt-A-Bin cellular galvanized steel bin-style retaining walls filled with compacted granular soil. Precast concrete sills and galvanized steel sheet pile backwalls completed the picture.
With a 55 year history in the mining, energy and forestry sectors, AIL’s Prefabricated Bridges are the go-to solutions for stream crossings, road or rail overpasses and detour bridges in remote locations.
